Lending a helping hand
Our standing partnership with Adams County has us doing so many interesting and community-based projects throughout the year. This project was the first of many for me.
We partnered with the Adams County Health Department to rebrand their harm reduction program, already named 'Project Connects.' They needed to develop a brand that would help build awareness about their services throughout the community and position them as a welcoming and credible program. At the time we started, they had no landing page and were operating out of an unmarked trailer — most people didn't even know who they were and at worst, didn't feel safe approaching the trailer.
Saying a lot, in a little
Just to give you an idea, these are some of the services they offer: STI and HIV testing, counseling and referrals, syringe exchange and disposal, overdose prevention, education, and Naloxone and Fentanyl strip distribution, Medicaid enrollment, wound care education, condom distribution, among many, many other things. So my biggest challenge as a writer? Condense all of that, not say it outright, and instead, bring people in with welcoming and loving language directed toward lending a hand, or being a community support system in general.
But Who Is Project Connects?
Before I could even begin to help them with their outward-facing marketing, I needed to help them understand internally, who they are, what they do, and what their purpose is. They are just one sector of the larger Adams County Health Department, and so we had to set them apart while still abiding by the overarching goals and purpose of the Health Department.
In the end, it's about judgement-free care and building a connection with the community. I took that general idea and wove it into the fabric of this brand.
Promoting Health, Building Connections
The visual branding came together beautifully with the messaging and the clients were beyond thrilled. They took it all and ran with it.
